Amadou Diagne is a singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist from Dakar Senegal, now resident in the UK. Amadou Diagne is a former member of L’Orhestre National du Senegal with whom he played percussion for many years whilst also becoming a busy session musician on the Dalar Music Scene. As a member of the Orchestra Amadou played percussion with some of the top West African stars for festivals, concerts and television including Youssou N’dour, Cesaria Evora and Jimmy Cliff.

Amadou always grounds his music firmly in the West African music traditions of his Griot culture whilst also finding a personal freedom of expression and excitement of inspiration and ideas through living in England. Amadou has been enjoying meeting and working with musicians of many different backgrounds here in the UK. Amadou’s first Album ‘Introducing Amadou Diagne’ came out in 2012 through World Music Network. Amadou’s second Album ‘Yakar’ was released by Waulk Records in 2014 Amadou’s latest Ambum ‘Ligeey’ came out in 2016 with Long tale Records.

His latest project has been with his band ‘Group Yakar’ a six piece outfit with a mix of Jazz, funk, Afro beat, Blues and West African soul. Amadou also performs as a solo artist with an acoustic set of his own songs using his skills as a multi instrumentalist. Amadou plays West African Kora, guitar, and many forms of percussion including Djembe, Conga and full kit.
